Altered states of consciousness are fascinating in their ability to reveal aspects of existence that are normally hidden. The foundations of my work are about the exploration of these states and how they transmute into an archetypal journey of the self. Time and time again, death has arisen as a motif in my work, confronting me with the duality of existence. As a human being and artist, my intent is to address and document those explorations. Art becomes my pathway to a better understanding of my own individuality and a vehicle for transcending my own limits. My work examines how different levels of consciousness inform culture and provoke thoughtful dialogue in the personal and public spheres. Through visual manifestation I make connections that lead to an enhanced self-awareness by confronting the viewer and myself with mortality and meaning.
